Background:
Red Shield is not very forthcoming with information about her past, and they only reason we know she is Apache x Comanche is from blood tests. She was at first very violent when she came through the portal, and we can only assume that she had escaped a dangerous ordeal. The only thing she brought with her was the horse she was sitting on. Since then she has become very placid, although she does not seem at all happy or content.

She speaks very little, and from what we can tell she is well versed in English, and can read and write to a degree. She takes little interest in anything and seems to hold a disdain for just about everyone and everything, including her horse companion. She spends her time weaving and gathering different plants and rocks for whatever it is she does by herself. Since she has proven to be no threat, she is allowed to wander over AVRRA's property freely. She will disappear into the hills for days on end, and it was at first worrisome to the staff. But she always comes back, however much she might not want to.

The only one she ever really 'talks' to is Ryan, the stable owner. She has an uncanny ability to read people's personalities, and she sees him as a good soul. She has confided that she leaves to look for another way home, some way to open the portal. She says that the beads on her eyes will help her to see it when the time comes. Ryan has been able to piece together that before she came through the portal, she was a sort of nomad. She had grown up with the Apaches, but had since dedicated her life to inciting rebellion against white settlements and 'pony soldiers'  in many of the plains and southwestern pueblo tribes. This would explain how she knows so many native languages and cultures. It would also explain why she seems to loathe Lt. Kent with a passion - after all, they came from almost the same time period, and he's as white as they come...
