Rowan - Assassin OC

Tooootally lost steam on the shading. The moment I started it. But who cares – this is more for my reference than anything.

Well this guy has been dancing around in my brain for a while (yeah, dancing, cuz he’s cool like that) and I felt he deserved to be drawn. I originally wanted to do a creative AC character from another time period with awesome creative clothes, but instead, here’s Rowan. A medieval archer who leaves Britain as a crusader and comes back as an assassin. But I want to draw him in some other time periods… so maybe there’ll be an animus malfunction?? I think he was the ancestor of one of Abstergo's test subjects before Desmond.

Random brainstorm (subject to change):
So in short, he leaves England in the late 12th century after being wanted for murder (he swears it’s an accident) and leaves for the Holy Land with the crusaders. He ends up stationed in Jerusalem, and over time he slowly starts to disbelieve in some of the methods in which his comrades use in their campaign. One day his commander is assassinated, and the reasons the assassin used seemed plausible (plus the commander was a jerk anyway) so he secretly helps the assassin escape and learns his name is Malik. Malik is grateful as he leaves.

Rowan battles between his loyalty and his conscience, and in a scuffle where an over-confident Altair nearly kills him (Malik steps in to repay his debt), he doesn’t hesitate when Malik suggests he see the Bureau leader to aid them.

Rather warily, the Rafik in Jerusalem offers him a job as a sort of spy, and after giving a few good hints, Rowan is granted some sense of trust from the Assassins. But he does have a hard time still doing his duty for the crusaders.

Sooner or later, Malik comes to Jerusalem as the new Bureau leader, full of bitter hatred toward Altair. With his influence, Rowan feels the same. LONG STORY SHORT Rowan proves his worth in the battle against Robert de Sable and after Altair becomes Mentor, he is offered a place with the Assassins. Rowan hears rumors about the evil Prince John back in his home country, and in Altair’s new plan for the order (to make the group more secretive and spread out) he is given command over a handful of Assassins and is sent back to England to assassinate John and start an Assassin presence outside of the Holy Land.

From here, he is met by a childhood friend in Nottingham, who misremembers his name as “Robin”… and can you get where this is going? I don’t think I need to explain the rest.
